Custom Embroidered Canvas Bags for Business
Upgrade your corporate merchandise with heavy-duty, retail-quality canvas bags customised with professional embroidery.
At printsandbags.com, we source the blanks, stitch your logo and deliver finished bags anywhere in the EU - production, quality control and shipping handled end to end, straight to your office or event.
Canvas is one part of our wider custom embroidery services for business bags, which also covers cotton totes, drawstring bags and pouches.
Why canvas is the right fabric for an embroidered canvas bag
Embroidery puts thousands of stitches through a small area. Lighter fabric cannot absorb that without distorting - the panel ripples around the logo and the result looks cheap, however good the digitising is. Canvas is dense and tightly woven, so the stitching sits flat and the logo holds its shape.
This is a fabric argument, not a quality argument. Our 100–180 g/m² cotton bags are excellent products and they take a printed design beautifully, which is exactly why we print those and embroider these. If your artwork is large, full-colour or photographic, a printed lightweight bag is the better buy and we will tell you so — our guide to embroidery or print on corporate bags settles that choice in about two minutes.
The canvas weights we embroider
- 340 g/m² organic canvas — GOTS-certified organic cotton canvas, with documentation supplied for your compliance file. The everyday premium choice: dense enough for a stitched logo, still light enough to order in volume.
- 407 g/m² canvas — available as a gusseted gallery tote and as a chevron-handle shopper. Noticeably substantial in the hand, with the structure to stand up loaded.
- 475 g/m² oversized heavy-duty canvas — the heaviest fabric we carry. Rugged and structural, for premium corporate gifting, retail staff gear and genuine utility use.
Below roughly 200 g/m² the fabric pulls around a dense logo, and on an unlined bag the stitch reverse shows inside. On those weights we recommend printing instead.
Built for stitching, and honest about the limits
- Anti-puckering construction. A dense canvas weave gives the machine a stable surface, so heavy embroidery sits flat without pulling or wrinkling the fabric around it.
- Reinforced stitched handles and a gusseted base on the gusseted ranges — structure the bag keeps when it is loaded with catalogues, a laptop or marketing material.
- Front-panel embroidery, hooped flat for even density. Stitching cannot cross a seam, a gusset fold or a handle join — that is a physical limit of the hoop, not a policy. Your usable area is confirmed on the proof.
- Polyester embroidery thread, colourfast in wash and UV-stable. Recycled polyester thread available on request.
- What cannot be stitched: gradients, drop shadows, photographic fills and hairline strokes. Send your artwork and we will tell you before you commit.
Three steps, no supply-chain admin
- Select and upload. Choose your canvas weight, size and colour, then send your logo as a vector file — .AI, .EPS or vector .PDF, fonts outlined. Our guide to preparing your logo for bag embroidery covers what survives digitising, minimum text size and Pantone-to-thread matching.
- Approve your digital proof. We digitise your logo into a stitch file (.DST) and send a digital proof on your chosen bag and colour, showing exact scale and thread placement. We revise it until it is right. Nothing is stitched without your written approval.
- Tracked EU delivery. 15 business days from your approval, shipping included, delivered anywhere in the EU with full tracking.

Frequently asked questions
What makes canvas better for embroidery than lightweight cotton?
Density. Our 100–180 g/m² cotton bags are thin and lightweight by design, which is what makes them so good to print on and so economical in volume. Embroidery asks something different of the fabric: thousands of stitches concentrated in one area, which lightweight cotton cannot absorb without rippling.
Canvas at 340 g/m² and above gives the needle a stable, rigid background, so a dense logo stitches crisply and stays flat. There is a second reason on unlined bags — on heavy canvas the stitch reverse is barely noticeable inside; on thin cotton it is visible and untidy.
How is embroidery priced?
By stitch count, not by the number of bags. Stitch count is driven by how much area your logo fills, how much outline it has and how much detail it carries — so a simplified mark often costs less and looks better stitched. There is a one-off digitising charge per design, quoted before any work begins, and machine setup happens per design rather than per piece.
This is why embroidery prices behave differently from print: they stay flatter as quantity rises rather than dropping steeply. Send your logo and quantity and you get the actual number, ex-VAT, with EU delivery included.
Can you source bags with eco certifications?
Our 340 g/m² canvas line is GOTS-certified organic cotton, and we supply the certification documentation for your compliance file on request. Recycled polyester embroidery thread is available on request.
We only claim certifications we can evidence. If your ESG policy requires a specific standard, tell us at enquiry stage and we will tell you plainly whether we can meet it rather than after you have ordered.
Do you match embroidery threads to our corporate brand colours?
Yes. Embroidery uses physical threads rather than liquid ink, so we cross-reference your official Pantone (PMS) codes against industrial embroidery thread catalogues to find the closest matching shade. The match is confirmed on your digital proof before production, and the same thread runs across the whole batch so your brand identity stays consistent.
How large can the embroidered area be, and can you stitch both sides?
Front panel as standard, hooped flat. Embroidery needs a flat single-layer area the machine can hold, which rules out gussets, seams and handle joins entirely.
In practice most bag logos work best well below the maximum size. A mark at chest scale on a plain ground reads as a quality item; one stretched to fill the panel reads as advertising and gets carried less. We will show you both on the proof if it is a close call. Second-side embroidery is a second hooping and a second setup — ask at enquiry stage and we will quote it.
What are the turnaround and transit times for EU shipments?
Our standard lead time is 15 business days from your written approval of the digital proof - digitising, production, and fully tracked transport included, with EU delivery in the price. The clock starts at your approval, not your order, so approving quickly is the biggest lever you have.
Production and delivery are inside the EU, so there is no import clearance, no customs declaration and no EPR packaging registration at your end. If you have a fixed trade show or event deadline, tell us at enquiry stage and we will explore express options.
Do we get a physical sample before production?
You get a digital proof of your logo on your chosen bag and colour before a single stitch is made. It is free, we revise it until you are happy, and nothing goes into production without your written approval.
We do not produce physical embroidered samples. The fully digital process is what keeps the lead time at 15 business days and keeps sampling costs out of your unit price. Orders are paid 100% upfront and all prices are ex-VAT.
Do you embroider bags other than canvas?
Yes — cotton totes, drawstring bags, shopping bags and pouches are all part of our custom embroidery services. Canvas gets its own page because fabric weight is the single biggest factor in how a stitched logo turns out, and it is the question buyers most often get wrong.
Do you sell blank canvas bags for us to embroider ourselves?
No. We supply finished canvas bags embroidered with your company logo. We do not sell blanks, kits or craft supplies, and we do not cater to the retail, hobbyist or DIY markets.
If you want canvas bags to stitch yourself, a craft or haberdashery supplier is the right place. If you need branded canvas bags for a business, that is the whole of what we do.
