What to choose for guests and shelves — and why

Most branded items stay inside the building. A tote leaves with the guest, goes to the market, the beach and the airport, and keeps working long after the stay is over. That makes it one of the few pieces of hospitality branding that travels — and it changes what you should specify.

Gifting and selling need different weights

A bag given to guests on arrival can be 140 g/m²: it feels like real fabric, keeps cost per guest sensible, and does its job on the trip. A bag sold at reception or on a concept-store shelf has to survive retail comparison, which starts at 200–220 g/m² where the weight and stitching justify a price. Deciding which of the two you are doing is the first decision, and most properties eventually do both.

Colour matters more here than in most sectors

Hospitality branding is an environment, not a logo. Bag colours run from natural and black through coloured cotton and coloured handles, so the bag can sit alongside your interior rather than fighting it. A bag that clashes with the room it is handed out in gets left behind.

Keep the print small and let the fabric talk

A restrained single-colour mark reads as considered; a large multi-colour print reads as promotional. Screen printing handles solid colours cleanly, and a smaller print costs no more — this is one of the few places where the better-looking option is not the more expensive one.

Reorder the same spec as a stock line

Once a bag is approved it becomes repeatable — same product, same print setup, new quantity. That matters when the bag sits on a shelf year-round rather than being tied to one event, because consistency between reorders is what makes it look like stock rather than leftovers.

Quantities that suit a single property

The 25-piece minimum means one hotel, one café or one shop can order for itself without a group buy. Small runs also let you test a design in one location before rolling it across a group.

Order ahead of the season, not into it

Production runs roughly 10–15 working days after digital proof approval, plus delivery within the EU. For a season opening or a refurbishment reopening, that means ordering during the quiet weeks rather than the busy ones.
