That clock starts at approval, not at order, which matters more in December than any other month.

Working back from a mid-December delivery target, and adding a margin for peak-season courier congestion, early November is the last comfortable point to place a first-time embroidery order. Ordering later than early November is often still possible. It just gets tighter, and December is our busiest month for artwork approvals sitting in inboxes.

Why embroidery needs more runway than print in December

Two steps exist for embroidery that a print order doesn't have: digitising your logo into a stitch file, and approving the resulting digital proof in writing before anything is stitched.

Proof approval is the single most common reason a December order slips its date, for a very ordinary reason: the person who needs to approve it is often out of office in mid-December, right when the deadline is tightest.

If you know your approver's availability is uncertain in December, name a backup approver at enquiry stage rather than after the proof is sent.

The August to September decision window

The actual planning moment for a Christmas gifting order is August to September, not November.

That's when most finance and HR budgets for staff and client gifts are set, and it's early enough that a first embroidery order has no time pressure on the proof stage at all.

• Move the gifting date to January. Not every Christmas gift has to arrive by Christmas. A January delivery with a short note is a genuine option worth considering over a rushed or missed order.
