Custom Printed Drawstring Pouches as Product Packaging
Share
A printed drawstring pouch is the kind of packaging people keep long after the product inside is gone.
Small brands ask us about this more and more: coffee roasters, honey makers, soap makers, jewellery designers and shops that put together gift sets.
So can a simple cotton pouch really replace a box or a paper bag? And which pouch fits which product?
In this guide I go through sizes, fabrics, prices from 25 pieces and what to print, with real products from our shop.
Short answer: a printed cotton or jute drawstring pouch works well as packaging for small products and gift sets. Pick the size by the product, keep food in its own sealed packaging inside, and start with a one-colour logo.

Why use a drawstring pouch as packaging?
A drawstring pouch does two jobs at once: it protects the product and it carries your brand.
A box goes into the bin after one use, and a paper bag rarely survives the trip home. A cotton pouch is soft, it closes with one pull and it can be used again for years.
That changes how the customer sees your product. It feels like a small gift, even when it is an everyday purchase.
There is also a practical side, because a pouch is flat until you fill it. One hundred pouches fit in a small carton, so they take very little room in a shop or a small workshop.
For brands that care about less waste, a reusable textile pouch is also an easy story to tell.
The packaging page gives an overview of all our bags for packaging, and this guide goes one step further into pouches.
Which products fit in a pouch?
Almost any small product that you would otherwise put in a box or a paper bag can go into a pouch.
These are the product groups we see most often in requests:
- Food and drink: coffee beans, tea, honey jars, chocolate, sweets, spices and small bottles of oil
- Cosmetics and care: soap bars, small bottles, creams, candles and bath salts
- Jewellery and accessories: rings, necklaces, watches, sunglasses, hair accessories
- Gift sets: a few products grouped together for Christmas, a launch or a client gift
- Small shop items: notebooks, small books, games, phone accessories, spare parts
This month a honey company in Germany asked us for drawstring pouches as gift packaging for two 500 g jars of honey. They had a clear picture of what they wanted: a flat natural cotton pouch, a yellow cord to match their logo and a two-colour print on one side.
A French jewellery brand also asked us about cotton pouches for its pieces in October.
Both requests show the same idea: the pouch is not an extra, it is the packaging.
Which pouch size for which product?
The most common mistake is choosing a pouch that is too big.
A product that slides around in a large pouch looks lost, and you pay for fabric you do not need. A pouch that fits closely looks neat and feels more valuable.
Measure the product first, then add about 2 to 3 cm on each side and some room at the top for the drawcord.
| Product | Pouch | Size | From (25 pcs, 1 colour) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ring, earrings, small soap | Natural cotton drawcord pouch S, 220 g/m² | 13 × 15 cm | €6.85 |
| Soap bar, 250 g coffee, small cosmetics | Organic cotton drawstring pouch S, 115 g/m² | 14 × 22 cm | €6.51 |
| Coffee beans, tea, sweets | Natural jute drawstring bag XS, 300 g/m² | 14 × 20 cm | €4.84 (50 pcs) |
| Two honey jars, gift set | Cotton drawstring bag M, 140 g/m² | 24 × 30 cm | €7.38 |
| Cosmetics set, candle, small book | Black premium cotton pouch S, 200 g/m² | 23 × 34 cm | €6.64 (50 pcs) |
For the honey request above, the two jars fit well in our standard 24 × 30 cm drawstring bag. We do not make pouches in special sizes, so the standard sizes are the quick and affordable route.
Most of our pouches come in several sizes, so you can use the same look across a whole product range.
A small, sturdy pouch for jewellery, small soaps and favours. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified cotton.
Cotton, organic cotton or jute?
The fabric decides how the packaging feels in the hand, so it is worth a minute of thought.
Regular cotton is the all-rounder. A 140 g/m² cotton is light and soft, and a 200 or 220 g/m² cotton feels thicker, holds its shape better and gives a crisper print.
Organic cotton suits brands that tell a sustainability story. Our natural organic pouches are made from 115 g/m² organic cotton certified to the Organic Content Standard (OCS), which tracks organic fibre from the farm to the finished product.
Jute looks rustic and warm. It is a natural match for coffee, tea, farm shops and Christmas hampers, and it feels sturdier than thin cotton.
If you want to compare fabric weights side by side, our guide to cotton bag weights explains what the numbers mean in practice.
For certificates in general, the post on GOTS and OEKO-TEX explains which label says what.
My simple rule: cotton for most products, organic cotton when the story matters, jute when the product itself is natural and earthy.

Pouches for coffee, honey and sweets
Food is where pouches look the most charming, and also where you need to think a little.
A cotton or jute pouch is outer packaging. Keep coffee, tea, sweets or honey in their own sealed packaging inside, such as a valve coffee bag, a closed jar or a wrapped bar of chocolate.
This way the pouch does what it is good at: it looks lovely, protects the product on the way home and stays in the kitchen afterwards.
For coffee roasters, a small jute bag with 250 g of beans in a sealed bag inside is a classic gift. The page for coffee roasters and cafés shows more bags for that trade.
For honey, jam and oil, think about weight. Two 500 g jars weigh more than a kilo, so a 140 g/m² cotton bag with a proper drawcord is the minimum, and the jars should stand upright.
For sweets and chocolate, small sizes work best, because a little pouch filled to the top looks generous.
If you also sell bread or pastries, our guide to bread bags for bakeries covers bigger bags for that.
One more tip: food brands often change their product range, so a simple logo print on the pouch lasts longer than a print that names one product.
A rustic jute bag for coffee beans, tea and small food gifts. Comes in six sizes, from 10 × 15 to 55 × 75 cm.
Pouches for cosmetics and spa gift sets
Cosmetics and pouches belong together, because a pouch turns two or three products into a set.
A soap bar, a small bottle and a candle on a shelf look like three purchases. Put them in a printed pouch and you have a gift that is easy to sell at a higher price.
For a premium look, a black pouch with a white print is hard to beat. Our black premium cotton pouch S is 23 × 34 cm, made from 200 g/m² cotton and holds about 3 litres.
For natural brands, the organic cotton pouch in natural fits the look of handmade soap and plant-based care products.
Spas and beauty salons also use pouches for treatment gifts and retail sets, and the page for spas and beauty salons has more ideas.
A pouch also travels well: customers use it later as a washbag for trips, which keeps your logo in their suitcase.
A thicker black cotton pouch with a double drawcord for cosmetics, candles and gift sets.
Pouches for jewellery and small gifts
Jewellery needs the smallest pouches, and here the fabric weight matters most.
A thin pouch around a ring can look soft and flat. The 220 g/m² drawcord pouch in 13 × 15 cm feels firmer and gives the piece a proper little home.
The same small pouch also comes in black and cherry red, if you prefer a coloured look.
Small pouches are also popular for wedding favours, event giveaways and Christmas gifts.
For something smaller still, the organic pouch XS is 10 × 15 cm and holds about 0.25 litres.
With jewellery, the pouch is often stored together with the piece for years, so it is worth choosing a fabric you like to touch.
What do printed pouches cost?
Pouches are priced like our tote bags: the more you order, the lower the price per pouch.
All prices below include a one-colour print, are per pouch and exclude VAT. Delivery within the EU is included.
| Pouch | 25 pcs | 50 pcs | 100 pcs | 200 pcs | 500 pcs |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Drawcord pouch S, 13 × 15 cm | €6.85 | €5.33 | €3.73 | €2.95 | €2.33 |
| Organic pouch S, 14 × 22 cm | €6.51 | €4.99 | €3.39 | €2.61 | €2.06 |
| Drawstring bag M, 24 × 30 cm | €7.38 | €4.06 | €2.52 | €1.92 | €1.45 |
| Black premium pouch S, 23 × 34 cm | not offered | €6.64 | €4.58 | €3.55 | €2.80 |
| Jute bag XS, 14 × 20 cm | not offered | €4.84 | €3.24 | €2.46 | €1.91 |
Look at the 24 × 30 cm drawstring bag. 25 pieces cost €184.50 in total, while 50 pieces cost €203.00, only €18.50 more.
So if you know you will use the pouches over a few months, a larger first order often makes sense.
A few more examples: 100 organic pouches S cost €339.00, 200 black premium pouches cost €710.00, and 500 drawstring bags M with a two-colour print cost €815.00 (€1.63 each).
Prices may change, so always check the product page for the exact price for your quantity and print.

What to print on a packaging pouch
On packaging, less is almost always more.
A small pouch has a small print area, for example about 12 × 16 cm on the organic pouch S and the jute bag XS, and 11 × 20 cm on the 24 × 30 cm drawstring bag. A logo with lots of space around it looks calm and expensive.
One colour is the classic choice and the cheapest. A dark print on natural cotton or a white print on black always works.
Two colours suit logos with an accent colour, like the yellow of a honey brand. On the organic pouch S, two colours cost €8.42 at 25 pcs instead of €6.51.
Full colour (DTF) is for photos, illustrations and logos with many colours. On the organic pouch S it costs €7.41 at 25 pcs and €6.01 at 100 pcs.
Thin lines and very small text are hard to print on textured fabrics like jute, so keep the design bold there.
Our guide on choosing print colours helps you pick a colour that works on your pouch.
You can also print different designs in one order, for example one design per product line, as long as each design meets the minimum quantity.
If you are not sure, send us your logo and we will tell you which pouch and print colour suit it best.
How the pouch keeps working after the sale
The real value of a printed pouch shows up after the customer opens it.
People keep good pouches. They use them for chargers, cables, makeup, socks on a trip, toys or more coffee from your shop.
Every time they reach for that pouch, they see your logo again, without you paying for it once more.
Some brands give a small discount when customers bring the pouch back for a refill, which works very well for coffee, tea and loose soap.
It also helps on social media, because a product in a nice pouch is simply more fun to photograph than a product in a plastic bag.
And in the EU, brands are looking harder at packaging waste: the European Commission's packaging waste rules aim to cut unnecessary packaging and make more of it reusable.
For small gifts in general, our comparison of drawstring pouches and drawstring backpacks helps when you are deciding between the two.
A pouch that gets a second life is the cheapest advertising your packaging can do.

FAQ
Can I use a cotton pouch for food?
Yes, as outer packaging. Keep the food in its own sealed packaging inside, for example a coffee valve bag, a jar or wrapped chocolate.
What is the minimum order for printed pouches?
Most of our pouches start at 25 pieces per design. The black premium pouches and the jute bags start at 50 pieces.
Can I get a pouch in a special size?
Our pouches come in fixed sizes, which keeps them quick and affordable. If you need something else, write to us first and we will check.
Can the cord be in my brand colour?
The standard cords are natural or match the pouch. A coloured cord is a special request, so ask us before you order.
Which pouch is best for jewellery?
The 220 g/m² drawcord pouch in 13 × 15 cm, because the thicker fabric holds its shape around a small piece.
Is jute or cotton better for coffee?
Both work. Jute looks more rustic and suits coffee and tea very well, while cotton gives a cleaner print and a softer feel.
How long does it take to get printed pouches?
About 10 to 15 working days after you approve the digital proof. Delivery within the EU is included.
Can I print on both sides of the pouch?
Yes, a second printed side is possible on most of our bags. Ask us or check the options on the product page.
