Branded Tote Bags for Consulting Firms: Teams and Clients

Consulting firms sell trust and expertise, so everything that carries their name has to look calm, careful and a little understated.

Most consulting firms use four kinds of bags. A gusseted organic bag for graduate onboarding kits, a sturdy gusseted tote for offsites and workshops, a light cotton tote for larger events, and a heavy canvas bag for alumni and client gifts.

In this guide, I go through each of these moments, show real prices from our shop, and share one order story that shows why timing matters so much.

In this guide:

Why do consulting firms order branded tote bags?

A consulting firm has very few physical products, so the few things it gives away say a lot.

Most of the year, your brand lives in slide decks, reports and email signatures. A bag is one of the rare things a client, a new consultant or an alumnus actually carries around.

It also has a long life. A good cotton bag goes to the office, the gym and the weekend market for years, and it quietly keeps your name in sight.

For firms that recruit hard and compete on reputation, that small, steady visibility matters.

So the question is rarely whether to order bags, but which bag fits which moment.

Which bag fits which moment in a consulting firm?

The right bag depends on who will carry it and how often.

Here is how I would match the bag to the moment:

Moment Who carries it Bag I would choose Why
Graduate intake New analysts and consultants Navy organic shopper, 170 g/m², 12 cm gusset Room for a laptop sleeve, notebook and bottle, GOTS certified
Offsite or retreat Your own teams Navy tote, 220 g/m², side and bottom gussets Holds A4 folders and a jumper, strong enough for daily use later
Client workshop or event Clients and guests, often many Navy cotton tote, 140 g/m² Light, neat and good value in larger numbers
Alumni and client gift Partners, alumni, key clients French navy organic canvas Marina tote, 340 g/m² Feels like a real bag, not merchandise

Navy is the classic choice in consulting, because it looks serious without being as heavy as black.

You can of course mix: one bag for your own people and a more special one for the people you want to keep close.

Onboarding kits for graduate intakes

The graduate intake is one of the biggest moments of the year for many consulting firms.

Dozens or even hundreds of new analysts start at the same time, often in late summer or early autumn, and the welcome kit is the first thing they hold from you.

A good onboarding bag needs depth, because it carries more than paper. Think of a notebook, a water bottle, a laptop sleeve and maybe a hoodie with your logo.

That is why I like a gusseted bag here, such as our navy organic shopper with a 12 cm gusset. It stands up on a desk and looks tidy when it is unpacked on the first morning.

Many firms order for the whole year at once and keep spare bags for people who join later. At 200 pieces, our navy organic shopper costs €5.38 per bag, compared with €8.42 at 25 pieces.

If your offices are in several countries, our page for head offices ordering across the EU explains how to send the bags to more than one address.

For ideas on what to put inside, see our guide on how to build a new employee welcome kit.

Bags for offsites, retreats and team days

Offsites are where consulting teams step away from client work, and a good bag makes the day feel planned.

For an offsite, the bag has to carry real things. Printed agendas, a notebook, a jumper for the evening and whatever the venue hands out.

A 220 g/m² tote with side and bottom gussets does this well. It keeps its shape, holds A4 folders flat and still looks good when people take it to the office the next week.

We can usually deliver straight to a hotel or conference venue in the EU, so the bags are waiting when your team arrives.

Just check the venue's rules for deliveries first, because some hotels only accept parcels on certain days.

Bags for client workshops and events

When you host clients, a bag at the door is a small sign that someone thought about their day.

For a workshop with 20 people, a navy 220 g/m² tote is a lovely touch. For a larger client event or a conference stand, the lighter navy 140 g/m² tote is the practical choice.

At 500 pieces, the navy 140 g/m² tote costs €2.06 per bag, so a bag for every guest stays within a normal event budget.

Some firms like to print the client's project name or the event name on the back, next to their own logo on the front.

A second printed side is possible and is priced on the product page, so you can see the cost before you order.

For more event ideas, our page on bags for events and conferences shows the full range.

Alumni and client gifts

Consulting firms invest a lot in their alumni networks, because former consultants often become future clients.

An alumni or client gift should not look like conference merchandise. It should look like something a person would buy for themselves.

This is where our French navy organic canvas Marina tote fits. It is 340 g/m², measures 34 × 34 × 17 cm and closes with a wooden toggle.

A small logo in a soft colour, or no visible logo at all on the front and a discreet print on the back, keeps the bag elegant.

One practical note: many companies have rules on the value of gifts their employees may accept, so ask the client side about any limit before you choose the bag.

Quiet branding: how consulting bags should look

The best consulting bags are the ones people do not immediately recognise as company bags.

A big logo across the front turns a bag into an advertisement, and people tend to leave those at home.

A small logo, a short tagline on the back, or a print in a colour close to the bag looks confident and modern. Our post on tone-on-tone printing shows how elegant a light print on a light bag can look.

Navy print on a navy bag works on the same idea, and white on navy is the classic, crisp alternative.

If you want to read more about what makes a bag feel premium, our post on quiet luxury in tote bags goes deeper.

Less logo usually means more use, and more use is the whole point.

Why timing matters: a real request from Spain

At the end of September, a consultancy in Spain asked us for 150 to 200 emerald green tote bags for a networking event.

The bags had to be on site about ten days later. That is a very short time for printed bags, and the emerald green bag was not in stock with our print partners.

We checked with two print houses the same day. Both told us that delivery before the event was not possible, because the plain bags first had to be ordered in.

So we had to tell the customer that we could not make their date.

There are two lessons in this for any firm. First, order at least four weeks before the event, because our typical production and delivery time is 10 to 15 working days from artwork approval.

Second, if your brand colour is unusual, ask us early whether that bag colour is in stock, or have a second colour ready as a backup.

Planning a month ahead costs nothing and saves a lot of stress.

Sustainable bags for firms that advise on sustainability

Many consulting firms help their clients with sustainability, so their own merchandise is quietly checked against the same standard.

A bag that is thin, used once and thrown away sends the wrong message. A bag that is certified and carried for years sends the right one.

Our organic bags are made of certified organic cotton under the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), and our post on GOTS vs OEKO-TEX explains what the labels mean.

Two of the bags in this guide are made of organic cotton: the navy organic shopper and the French navy Marina tote.

The other half of the story is use. A heavier bag that someone carries every week for five years does more good than a light one that ends up in a drawer.

So for a firm with a sustainability practice, I would rather order fewer, better bags than many cheap ones.

FAQ

What is the minimum order for printed tote bags?

Most of our bags start at 25 pieces.

Some bags have a higher minimum, which is always shown on the product page.

How early should we order for a graduate intake?

Order at least four weeks before the start date.

For a large intake with an unusual bag colour, six weeks gives you a comfortable margin.

Can you deliver to our offsite venue?

We can usually deliver to a hotel, venue or office anywhere in the EU.

Check the venue's delivery rules first, because some only accept parcels on certain days.

Can we print on both sides?

Yes, a second printed side is possible.

The price for it is shown on the product page.

Can we use our exact brand colour?

We print as close as possible to the Pantone colour you give us.

The colour of the bag also affects how the print looks, and we tell you before printing if that is a concern.

Can each graduate get a bag with their own name?

Names per bag are not a standard option in the shop.

Write to us before you order and we will check what is possible for your quantity.

Will we pay VAT?

Prices are shown excluding VAT.

With a valid EU VAT number from another EU country than Estonia, a business order is normally invoiced without VAT, otherwise VAT is added at checkout.

Which bag looks most premium for client gifts?

For client and alumni gifts, the organic canvas Marina tote in 340 g/m² is our most gift-like bag.

A small, quiet logo makes it look even more like a bag people would choose for themselves.

A bag that keeps your name close

A consulting firm's brand lives on screens and in meetings, and a good bag carries it into everyday life.

Choose a deep organic bag for new graduates, a sturdy gusseted tote for offsites, a light tote for events and a heavy canvas bag for alumni and clients.

Order a month ahead, keep the design quiet, and the bag will keep working for years.
