Custom Printed Tote Bags in Ireland: Prices, VAT, Delivery

Custom-printed tote bags delivered to Ireland start at €5.15 per bag for 25 pieces, with delivery included and no customs charges.

Irish VAT of 23% is added at checkout, so 25 natural cotton tote bags with a one-colour logo come to €158.36 in total. With a valid Irish VAT number, the order is normally charged without VAT.

In this guide, I go through real prices for printed tote bags in Ireland, how the VAT works, how long delivery takes and what two orders that went to Ireland this autumn looked like.

What do custom printed tote bags cost in Ireland?

The price per bag depends on the bag, the quantity and the number of print colours, and it is the same for Ireland as for any other EU country.

Here are today's prices per bag with a one-colour print on one side, excluding VAT and with delivery to Ireland included:

Bag 25 pcs 50 pcs 100 pcs 200 pcs 500 pcs
Natural White classic tote, 140 g/m² €5.15 €5.15 €3.55 €2.77 €2.23
Natural tote with logo print, 140 g/m² €7.47 €4.14 €2.60 €2.00 €1.49
Kelly Green classic tote, 140 g/m² €5.47 €5.47 €3.87 €3.09 €2.48
Bottle Green heavyweight organic tote, 340 g/m² €11.96 €8.98 €7.49 €6.45 €5.83

For 25 bags, the Natural White classic tote is the least expensive choice, but from 50 bags on, the natural tote with logo print costs less per bag.

And the step from 50 to 100 bags is smaller than most people expect. 50 natural totes with logo print cost €207.00, and 100 of the same bag cost €260.00.

That is twice the bags for €53.00 more.

With printed tote bags, the quantity changes the price more than anything else.

How much VAT is added to printed tote bags in Ireland?

Irish VAT at the standard rate of 23% is added to the net price at checkout.

For an order delivered within the EU, the VAT of the delivery country is added, and the standard rate in Ireland is 23%, as listed by Revenue, the Irish tax authority.

You see the VAT amount in the checkout before you pay, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

Here is what four orders cost with Irish VAT, at today's prices:

Order Net price VAT 23% Total
25 Natural White classic totes €128.75 €29.61 €158.36
100 natural totes with logo print €260.00 €59.80 €319.80
200 Kelly Green classic totes €618.00 €142.14 €760.14
100 Bottle Green heavyweight organic totes €749.00 €172.27 €921.27

The second and the last row show the same bags and quantities as two orders that went to Ireland this September, and I come back to them below.

The price on the product page plus 23% is the full amount, because delivery is already included.

Can an Irish business order printed tote bags without VAT?

Yes, if the business is registered for VAT in Ireland and enters a valid VAT number at checkout.

The field for the VAT number appears below the phone number once the delivery address is filled in. With a valid number, the order is normally charged at 0% VAT, and you account for the VAT in your own return, which is known as the reverse charge.

The number has to be valid in the EU's VIES system. You can check yours on the VIES page of the European Commission before you order, and if a number does not validate, VAT is charged as usual.

If you are not registered for VAT, for example as a club, a school, a small charity or a couple planning a wedding, you pay the price including 23% VAT.

Our guide to EU VAT and OSS for bag orders explains both cases in plain language. It is general information and not tax advice, so please ask your accountant about your own situation.

A correct VAT number at checkout is the one detail that keeps a business invoice clean.

Are there customs charges on tote bags delivered to Ireland?

No, because the bags are printed in the EU and delivered within the EU.

There is no customs clearance, no import duty and no extra paperwork at the door. The courier simply delivers the parcel.

This matters more in Ireland than in most countries. A search for printed tote bags in Ireland often shows suppliers based in the United Kingdom, and since Brexit, goods from England, Scotland and Wales count as coming from outside the EU.

Citizens Information explains what that means for a buyer in Ireland: VAT is charged on import, the parcel needs a customs declaration, and customs duty can apply if the goods were not made in the UK.

We deliver within the EU only, so we cannot deliver to Northern Ireland.

For an address in the Republic of Ireland, the price you see at checkout is the price you pay.

How long does delivery of printed tote bags to Ireland take?

Production and delivery typically take 10 to 15 working days from the day you approve the artwork.

The clock starts with your approval of the digital proof, not with the order itself.

If you have a fixed date, write it in the cart. There is a box that asks when you need your bags, and we plan the order around that date where we can.

I would count four weeks back from the day the bags must be in your hands. For a Christmas market or a staff gift in the first week of December, that means ordering in the first days of November.

If your date is closer than that, contact us before you order, so we can check what is realistic. Our guide to rush orders explains what can be sped up and what cannot.

The earlier the proof is approved, the calmer the days before your event.

What address details do you need for delivery in Ireland?

A complete address with the street, the town, the county and the Eircode, plus a contact name and a phone number.

An Eircode on its own is not enough. We learned this in September, when a courier booking for an Irish order could not be completed with the Eircode alone, because the courier system asks for the street and the house number too.

Many Irish addresses have no house number at all, especially in the countryside. In that case, write the name of the house, farm, hotel or venue, and add the Eircode, which you can look up in the Eircode Finder.

We can usually deliver directly to a company address, an event venue, an office or a hotel. One of this autumn's orders went to a country lodge in County Cavan, and the other to a rural address in County Wexford.

For a venue or a hotel, add the name of a person who will be there to receive the parcel. Our guide to ordering printed bags across borders goes through delivery to a hotel, an office or a venue step by step.

A full address and a phone number save more time than any express service.

Can you order tote bags from abroad for an event in Ireland?

Yes, your company and your billing address can be anywhere in the world, as long as the delivery address is in the EU.

You order online and pay by card in euros. The bottle green order for the lodge in County Cavan was paid from London, and the bags went straight to the venue in Ireland.

That makes it practical for a company in the UK or the US that plans a conference, a team event or a wedding in Ireland. Irish VAT is added, because the bags are delivered in Ireland.

Our page on custom tote bags for US companies, delivered in Europe explains how this works for buyers outside the EU.

Is your delivery address somewhere else in the EU? The same prices and steps apply, and our guide to where we deliver custom printed tote bags in Europe covers every country.

What counts is where the bags are delivered, not where the invoice goes.

Which printed tote bags do buyers in Ireland choose?

The two orders that went to Ireland this September were as different as two tote bags can be.

The first was 100 natural cotton totes in 140 g/m² with a one-colour logo. This is the light everyday bag: 38 × 42 cm, shoulder-length handles, room for A4, and the lowest price per bag from 50 pieces on.

The second was 100 bottle green heavyweight totes in 340 g/m² organic cotton canvas. The fabric is GOTS-certified organic cotton and the bag holds 10 litres.

Fabric weight is given in g/m², which means grams per square metre. The higher the number, the thicker and sturdier the bag, and our guide to cotton bag weights compares 100, 140, 220 and 340 g/m² side by side.

A light bag is right for a conference, a festival or a shop that gives a bag with every purchase. A heavy canvas bag is right for a gift, for merchandise you sell, or for a hotel that wants guests to keep the bag.

Choose the bag by how long you want people to use it.

Should printed tote bags for Ireland be natural or coloured?

Natural costs the least, but a coloured bag is chosen more often than you might think.

Most of the orders placed on our website this September were for coloured bags, from bottle green and royal blue to purple.

The classic cotton tote comes in 48 stock colours. A coloured bag costs about €0.30 more per bag than the natural white one, so the colour is a small part of the price.

Green is an obvious choice for an Irish brand, and you can choose from several greens, such as kelly green, emerald green, and bottle green. You find them all in the green tote bag collection.

Our guide to choosing print colours shows which print colours work on which bag colours.

A branded tote bag in your own colour is recognised before anyone has read the logo.

How is your logo printed on tote bags for Ireland?

With screen printing for simple logos, or with full-colour digital transfer printing for designs with many colours.

Screen printing suits logos in one to five solid colours, and it is the most economical method for larger orders. Full-colour digital transfer printing (DTF) suits photos, gradients and detailed illustrations.

Every extra print colour adds to the price. At 100 pieces, the Natural White classic tote costs €3.55 with one print colour, €4.20 with two and €6.05 with a full-colour print.

A vector file gives the sharpest result, and you always get a digital proof to approve before anything is printed.

The minimum order is 25 bags per design. Our comparison of digital printing and screen printing helps you decide between the two methods.

One strong print colour is usually all a good logo needs.

How do you order printed tote bags to Ireland online?

You order on the product page, without asking for a quote first.

  1. Choose the bag and the quantity. The price per bag updates as you change the number.
  2. Choose the number of print colours. One colour, up to five colours, or full colour.
  3. Upload your logo or design. A PDF, AI or EPS file is best.
  4. Write your date in the cart. If the bags are for an event, tell us when you need them.
  5. Check out with your Irish address. Add your VAT number if you have one, and pay by card in euros.
  6. Approve the digital proof. We print only after your approval, and then the bags are on their way.

Our post about ordering custom tote bags online without a quote follows one real 50-piece order from start to finish.

Of course you can still write to us first, for example if you need a bag or a quantity that is not on the product page.

A logo file, an address and a date are all it takes.

How do you get a good price on printed tote bags in Ireland?

By choosing the quantity and the print with the price table in front of you.

  • Order one step up. The step from 50 to 100 bags often costs little, and the extra bags get used.
  • Keep to one print colour. It is the least expensive print and often the clearest.
  • Leave the date off the print. Then the bags that are left work for your next event too.

Our guides to what custom printed tote bags cost and to printed tote bag prices in Europe show how the price changes with bag type, quantity and use.

A good price per bag starts with a clear idea of how many bags you will really use.
